Liquid Faith A highly experimental concert from the Glurp Guru! One gets the sense of complete transmutation in sound. Like an artist creating as he goes and throwing the rule book out the window. Also one of the most unique out of his many live albums. With Robert it's always hard to pick a favorite, but it's pure unexpected nature makes it a rare find and great listen. A master forming and changing with every turn of the key. Hardcore fans will appreciate it. Favorite track: Particles.

Michael Brückner My favorite among Robert's live recordings. Why? It features a journey through different aspects of Robert's work: melodious and abstract, accessible and experimental, lively and introspective.
Then, "Foothills" is a bit more experimental, conveys a slightly stronger sense of spontaneity, immediacy, even intimacy - more like witnessing a composer at work than a musician playing his repertoire, and that's what makes it such an especially rewarding experience... Favorite track: Trajectory.

about

Foothills: Robert Rich Live on KFJC, 28 May 2014

My friends at KFJC 89.7 FM Foothill College, in Los Altos CA, invited me to perform live as part of a four hour special featuring my music. Because this station is special to me (it's where I performed my first live event ever, in 1980) and because they celebrate experimental music, I wanted to play an improvised concert as much as possible. Some of this gear appears for the first time in my live rig. This means that I make mistakes, and sometimes the notes aren't perfect. I like this because it's real, it's what I do. You can see a bit of my process, warts and all. (Some of the ideas here surfaced on my 2015 album “Filaments” and some find their ways into other tracks as they evolve.) - Robert Rich
